Topic(s): God's Will
In 1st Samuel 8:5-7 it says "Look," they told him [Samuel] "you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have." Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the Lord for guidance. "Do everything they say to you," the Lord replied, "for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don't want me to be their king any longer."
When I read this, I realized that sometimes we humans want everything that everybody else has. People say things like "everybody's doin' it," "it's the new wave," and "it's what's in!" But we must follow God's will for our lives no matter how strange, different, or even weird it sounds. God told Hosea to marry a prostitute (Hosea 1:2) and he told Isaiah told walk around naked for 3 years! (Isaiah 20:2-3). God told Jesus to die for us. So whatever the Lord has for us, He has for us! Let us embrace it with faith, no matter what!!!
