Faith and Works - February 10
nathan made this entry on February 10th, 2008
Topic(s): Morality, Salvation
This devotion was titled, "Morality is not enough." It talked about how morality is not enough to get us into heaven. Often, people focus on trying to make themselves good enough to get into heaven, and on removing all the sins from their lives. One thing particular that Morris Venden said here is that "It is possible to look at yourself in the mirror so long that you become more like yourself." That is a profound, yet truthful thought. We can focus so much on a specific sin that it becomes a deeper part of us!
The Bible says that by beholding we become changed. So if we behold nothing but our sins, we will grow deeper into them, but if instead we behold Christ, we will become more like Him.
