Topic(s): Courage
Joshua took over Moses' role as leader of the Israelites. He was given a big responsibility and I'm sure that he didn't know exactly how he should lead and what he should do. In the first chapter, though, God told him to read and meditate on the law and to keep his eyes on God. God said to be strong and full of courage.
In whatever situation we are in, God doesn't want us to get discouraged or give up. Sometimes it can seem like things are out of control or headed for disaster, but God says that he will be with us each step of the way. In Chapter 5 God himself appeared to Joshua to lead His people and provide instruction. This same God also wants to help us in any battle we may be facing.
