The pharisees asked Jesus when His kingdom would come. Jesus answered, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
Here is the answer to one of the main problems the pharisees made, and one unbelievers make today. The pharisees did not believe Jesus was who He said He was. They were skeptical about His teachings. What they wanted was proof. They wanted undeniable proof that Jesus was God. They refused to believe, until Jesus physically and tangibly manifested great and awesome power before they eyes in a very specific way. They were looking for external proof of God.
So it is with many people who today don't believe in God. They want to see God with their eyes and hear Him with their ears. They want God to physically manifest great and awesome power before their eyes. They are looking for God to appear externally.
Jesus says the kingdom of God is within you. If you are looking for an external physical manifestation of God, you are looking for the wrong thing. The greatest proof that God exists is the work He has done in your individual life and my individual life. How has God moved in you? What has God done for you; things that only you know about? How has God given you the victory over certain things in which you could not have overcome otherwise? There is the proof of God's kingdom. That is the greatest proof that God exists.
